Some of the most common defects in textiles Industry that manufacturers should be on the priority lookout for.
- Drop Stitches 2) Missed Stitches 3) Holes
These are random gaps and lumps commonly found in raw textiles which can be caused by the following:
- Incorrect yarn & the feed tensions
- Slubbs and knots in the final cone
- Yarn overfeeding or underfeeding on bobbin
- Loose stitching during production process on the jukey.
Prevention Measures:
Set the correct tension always and feed rate for yarn carriers and other machines so the yarn should not be too loose or too tight during production.
- Horizontal lines
Irregular lines that use to appear across the fabric after weaving, that are not part of the pattern made. The lines are mainly caused by wrong adjustment of the bobbins and irregular thread tension.
Prevention Measures
Frequently check and replace these bobbins, and adjust thread tension and positioning appropriately after a fixed interval of time.
Common Dye and Printing Defects in Textile
Different Shade variation
Inconsistency in the matrix of the colour between looms of raw textiles caused by one or more of the following:
- Mixing of fabrics used while production
- Speed, Time variations in the production process
- Improper cutting by the operators
- inappropriate fabric stretching
Prevention Measures
always use the same base fabric and set of parameters for each production loom. Workers should only combine garments of the same colour by recognition while cutting and bundling raw textiles.
Dye Marks
Dye marks are irregular patches on the surface of raw fabric/threads. They are commonly caused due to:
- Low-quality base fabric used
- Improper level agents used
- An incorrect pH level in the production process
- Entanglement in the dye machine while using
- Moisture content is not proper
Prevention Measures
Ensure the base fabric is of top quality before sending it to stitching process So that we must prevent problems in further production line. Always maintain correct pH levels and use an appropriate dying agent in the machine.
Stains:
Stains, spots and patches can occur at any time before and after production process. They are especially common among dyed textiles looms or cones. Dirt and oil in the machinery are the major reasons of it.
Prevention Measures
Carry out regular inspection and cleaning of the machinery that can be done by CLRI – Cleaning , Lubrication, Inspection & Re-tightening of the machine by making an standard of it, and wrap fabrics carefully for storage in store areas those are free of dirt, oil, grease and dyes.
